Take a drive along Windward parkway and you will notice many office buildings three times as many restaurants. There are tons of places to spend your money on food. There is also a great deal of diversity in cuisine. Large selection + large competition = great for the consumer (it’s a fact).
Papouli’s is a greek/mediterranean restaurant and deli that is nestled nicely between a Moes and a Mellow Mushroom. It’s easy to over look when you have to giants on either side where potential customers will know what they will be getting in regards to food/service. For handfull of times I have been to Papouli’s, the place has never been crowded.
This is a simple counter service restaurant, so service isn’t really an issue. The food doesn’t take forever to come to the table. No problems. My favorite thing to get is the Super Gyro with Beef and Lamb. This and the regular gyro come literally packed to the top with meat!! As a dude, I love this. At another Greek place on Highway 9 (ahem…Gyro King), the gyros are packed with lettuce. I’m not a rabbit! I’m a MAN!! Give me more meat!!
Also in the super gyro is a delicious tatziki sauce, grilled peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Also there is a fat glob of melted mozzerella that can not be contained by the pita. Sooooo good! The pita itself is grilled and still very soft. I have no complaints with this gyro.
I also like the hummus they have at Papouli’s. Is it the BEST I’ve ever had? I can’t say it is, but it’s pretty good, and they give you quite a bit, at least enough to run out of pita pieces before you run out of hummus. It’s a solid appie for $3.50.
Papouli’s a great place to go if you want a quick lunch or dinner. Plenty of food so you don’t have to leave and go next door to Moe’s. It’s worth your time.
Thanks for the info. My office is just down the street, and I want to buy some Greek food, so it’s Papouli’s for me!
I really like gyros. This looks pretty good.
